Top Israeli health tech startups looking to break into the Chicago market

In healthcare news, the first-ever Chicago-Israel Health Tech Summit, that recently took place at the MATTER offices in downtown Chicago, featured leaders from Chicago-area health systems and 20 of Israel’s most promising healthcare startups that are looking to bring their innovations to the city.

“Israel has one of the world’s most vibrant communities of healthcare entrepreneurs — and most of them look to the United States to commercialize their technologies,” said Steven Collens, CEO of MATTER.

We’ve put together a roundup of startups that are planning to bring their disruptive technologies into the Chicago market.

Datos Health uses Big Data algorithms to incorporate only high quality data into the clinical workflow of healthcare organizations. That means physicians can add new data such as blood pressure, glucose levels, activity, sleep, and medication adherence from any device.

Datos is already helping doctors from New York-based Ridgeview Internal Medicine Group to better manage hypertension remotely. 

VRHealth employs artificial intelligence algorithms to deliver real-time analytics and could change the way American doctors are treating pain. The company, which raised $6 million in funding, recently announced a partnership with Oculus, The goal of this collaboration is meant to bring pain relief to women in labor and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The company also sells headsets for home use. People can simple play a game and later share their health insights with a clinician.

Vitalerter is a wireless monitoring platform designed to improve services in nursing facilities. The Vitalert biosensor monitors the vitals signs of a patient and sends alerts to staffers whenever residents are in distress.

Small enough to be placed under a mattress or a chair, the device could be a vital resource in solving one of the America’s biggest health crisis: the shortage of nurses. Using Vitalert, medical staffers would be able to go on with their busy day, but still be alerted and act immediately whenever a resident is about to fall out of their bed, have a stroke, or an epileptic seizure.
